Our story began in 1891 when Charles Lee opened our doors to serve the local community. Over the subsequent generations, our agency evolved through dedicated leadership, including the foundational contributions of Orval Burkhart and Dirk Presidio. Passed to new ownership in 2018, the agency honors its historic traditions while integrating the modern digital tools required to serve current and future clients effectively.

History of Burkhart-Presidio Insurance Agency.
- 1891 – Charles Lee opens the agency doors in Gladwin, starting a long-standing legacy of community-focused insurance service.
- 1906 – Gene Lee takes over his father’s business, managing the daily operations and serving local families for over forty years.
- 1947 – The agency transitions to Henry Borders, who maintains the business operations through a brief post-war era.
- 1953 – Orval Burkhart acquires the agency, successfully transitioning from a local merchant into a dedicated insurance professional who establishes the firm as a staple of community stability.
- 1967 – Bill Burkhart joins his father at the agency, preparing to carry the family’s service-oriented philosophy into the next generation.
- 1986 – Bill Burkhart assumes ownership upon his father’s retirement, the same year that experienced representative Dirk Presidio joins the growing team.
- 1995 – Dirk Presidio purchases the agency, guiding the business through over two decades of industry changes while preserving its core values.
- 2018 – Dirk passes ownership to neighboring insurance professionals Joe Kreusch and Jeff Servinski, who combine historic service traditions with expanding commercial and health insurance options.
